Internet usage forecast by Cisco - Video is on the rise

Last Wednesday, Cisco posted in its company blog some predictions about Internet usage in the next 4 years. They essentially summarized their conclusion in the following interesting facts:

1. By 2014, Video will constitute over 91% of the Internet traffic. Video communication will include new and broadband intense video technologies, such as HD Video and 3D Video.

2. By the end of 2010, Internet Video will surpass P2P connections in terms of broadband traffic.

3. Face-to-Face Communications and Video On Demand will radically increase during the next few years.

4. Video consumption will not only be relevant for private consumers, but also for business purposes.

If those forecasts become true, the Internet will become an even more essential tool for businesses and individuals to communicate. The use of old communication methods, such as video-conference and landlines, will definitely decrease.
