Funding Social Media for Nonprofits

Vidula Menon posted today about the importance of Social Media for Social Impact. Many social impact organizations are harnessing the power of social networks to build following and support for their causes.

The challenge for nonprofits, however, is that effective social media campaigns can be expensive. So instead of donating money, why not donate social media services?

Dooley Media is doing just that. Through a collaboration of independent digital marketing companies in Cincinnati, one nonprofit will win $10,000 worth of social media services.

Many local nonprofits have websites and Facebook pages, but they are strapped for human resources and funding to drive powerful campaigns. At the same time, they do have powerful stories of the communities and causes they impact. With additional resources to capture and communicate these stories through social media, small organizations can build strong ties with donors.

The winner of the contest will receive a social media channel audit, strategy session, and social media training. They will also receive professional photography, copywriting, videos, and other resources from a number of local businesses.

By giving social media services to nonprofits, one has the ability to multiply social impact on a massive scale.
