Online Shopping for Christmas Season!


Its time for festive season this time of the year with Thanksgiving and Chrismas coming in up. What excites me is not a big Turkey dinner nor the eggnog, but its the shopping in big sale season.

Whether it is shopping for yourself or gifts, most shoppers should take a note at when and where is the best time to shop. Many people would think they can get the best deals during black Friday, but that might not always be the case. Imagine waiting in line in the cold and snowy weather to get a chance to fight against other bargainers in the store. A smarter shoppers nowsaday would be better off shopping online! Hence, it is so important for digital marketers to understand these trends to optimise their digital marketing campaign for holidays shopping.

For example, According to Adobe Digital Index, almost 20% of online sales in Europe happen during Christmas.  During this peak, mobile shopping has also grew 38%, some countries such as Denmark has a growth of over 50%, and a quarter of Christmas transactions were coming from mobile. Such growth would comes from various factors such as bigger and better mobile devices and more effective mobile payment platforms. From these figures, retailers and marketers should note the importance of maximising online/mobile shopper experience accordingly.


As for the shoppers, the same index provide insight information to get the best bargain. It is not surprising that prices are the lowest during Christmas, but it might not be best time to shop as inventories are also running low and you might not find your sizes. The data suggest that the best day to shop for the holidays is the first Monday of the Thanksgiving week, where you can find a good bargain and goods in stock.
