"Third-Screen" Marketing

Major cell phone providers have announced they will open their mobile phone services to advertisers. This week Sprint was the latest of the major mobile phone carriers to announce its intention to allow ads on the first page customers see when accessing the internet from cellphones on its network.

As a customer who rarely uses the internet from her cell phone because of the slow response time and small screen size, this new move by service providers will only keep me farther away from surfing the internet on my cell phone. Advertisements have invaded nearly every aspect of our lives. Is it really necessary to add ads to a tool that doesn't even work that well to begin with?
