Short answer.....they come in packaged sizes and prices. Buyers and sellers can conduct transactions in their sleep. Yet, it's more evident by the day, or device, that random ads on pages are not the thing of the future. Consumers are looking for relevant information. To catch someone's attention, and hopefully their wallet, a message has to tickle the funny bone, touch the heart, or make someone think. Very few other messages will stick.
Change is difficult, but it is the companies that align their marketing with consumers' mindsets that will flourish in the digital environment. With all the marketing that today's consumer faces in a day, the default is to ignore the message. Standard banner ads are not as eye-catching as they used to be. Clever marketing is the only way to go.
