Candy Crush and Social Media

We have many social network update requests when browse the web. For example, we get requests from music site Pandora to ask whether we would like to share our music preferences to Facebook. Most of time, we choose to ignore these requests, keeping our internet habits to ourselves.

A game called “Candy Crush” is doing a great job of persuading its players to use its social media tools. If you use Facebook, I’m sure you’ve heard about it by now from many of your Facebook friends. I, myself, can attest to the effectiveness of these constant requests to play the game. After a few months, I eventually got curious what it was all my friends were playing and tried it myself. This is the power of social media. Candy Crush is a game that you can play anywhere from computer or phones. It starts off easy, but gets progressively harder and more addictive. This is where their social media tactics come into play. If you lose a level, you have to either pay to continue playing or ask your Facebook friends for more lives. Most people choose the latter option. Most people aren’t very interested in sharing their activities with their friends, but will not hesitate to if it can save them money. It’s such a great digital marketing strategy.
