Can you see me now? : Facebook autoplay driving brands to facebook over youtube

According to this AdWeek article, Facebook is winning the advertising digital video power struggle. Brands and celebrities have always posted links to YouTube videos via Facebook. Now, Facebook's conversion to autoplay has encouraged folks to post the videos directly to Facebook and skip YouTube altogether. 

I find this "one or the other" behavior very illogical. Why wouldn't brands who spend time producing video content post the videos to both platforms. My thoughts are that Facebook presents the video in a much more passive way and puts it in front of a lot more people, that may or may not show interest in it. YouTube, alternatively, appeals to the "long-tail" or people with a specific interest in the subject or brand that may go searching for relevant video content. What do others think?
