According to SAI sources, the following exchange occurred between a 19-year-old Mark Zuckerberg and a friend shortly after Mark launched The Facebook in his dorm room:
Zuck: Yeah so if you ever need info about anyone at Harvard
Zuck: Just ask.
Zuck: I have over 4,000 emails, pictures, addresses, SNS
[Redacted Friend's Name]: What? How'd you manage that one?
Zuck: People just submitted it.
Zuck: I don't know why.
Zuck: They "trust me"
Zuck: Dumb fucks.

However, the truth is it's only default settings that matter, though I'd argue that as media continues to slap Facebook it will eventually end up changing default user privacy settings to less aggressive. Why am I writing all this? I guess I just think this is one helluva window of opportunity for other social networks to have a go at FB's dominance. Jump on it, MySpace (or Diaspora, or anyone...)
Zuck's credibly problems are about to get a whole lot worse: Movie depicts seamy life of Facebook boss. The movie will be based on Ben Mezrich's book The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook: A Tale of Sex, Money, Genius and Betrayal. Should be interesting--this is the same guy that wrote Bringing Down the House about the MIT Card Counting team.
