For our team project we are exploring the online dating industry, and, browsing the Internet, it is interesting to see how many people actually do NOT search for information before paying a fee for a website.
The most interesting example is www.ge-dating.com : it is ranked among the top ten dating websites by forbes and it looks highly professional. Their value proposition is easy and appealing: you do not just fill a profile online, but you also meet the staff in person for an interview that will help them assessing if you are really motivated and "fit" with their offer. The team will also help you getting in touch with the potential love of your life.
Sounds cool, right?
Browsing a little bit deeply some strange aspects appear on the website....the most relevant is that there is no price written on the website!
Googling for some additional details in consumers affairs website...the website seems to be a scam!
The cost is at least 6,500 dollars, non refundable, and people are granted access to the database only after the allowed refundable time (when available) is ended. Apparently there are some class actions in place against them.
...always triple check when looking for info online!!!
