"Rate This Product" Hits Your Corner Store

Stickybits, the company that allows consumers to scan barcodes & add comments on products with their iPhones, has announced that it has signed PepsiCo as its first sponsor. This arrangement allows Pepsi to appear as the first"bit" before any others, directing consumers to Pepsi's social media campaign. This upgrade to "official bits" is Stickybits' attempt to start monetizing a new potential source of ad revenue. The success of this strategy, however, will depend on consumers' willingness to start scanning and viewing or adding product ratings while shopping at their local stores.
