3 Unconventional Ways to Boost Your Facebook Engagement

Many businesses run contests or pay for advertisements in order to get more Facebook fans or to keep them engaged with their brand. However, there are some unconventional ways to improve your brand's profile on Facebook without having to run giveaways of advertising.

1. Crowdsource:
Crowdsourcing refers to asking your community of users to create content and offer their recommendations on how to solve or address a problem. Social platforms such as Facebook and Instagram have made not only made it easier for businesses to reach out to their customers but also to recruit new ones. These platforms have become a way for businesses to get relevant information from their users and target audiences.

An example of a company that used crowdsourcing on a social media platform to its advantage is Threadless, a t-shirt company. It asks graphic designers to submit designs for the community to vote and, and then uses a poll to crowdsource. The t-shirts with the most votes then get made and sold online. Other companies need to follow suit and take advantage of the wisdom of their customers, invite them to a conversation, to sharing their opinion and that automatically helps you increase engagement.

2. Highlight your Employees on Facebook
The people who back your brand and represent your brand are first and foremost your employees so it is important that you publicly acknowledge them on Facebook and on other social platforms; which essentially brings them and your business recognition.

This tactic helps in multiple ways. Firstly, users like engaging with companies they feel they know so getting to know your employees is a step in the right direction. Secondly, by introducing your employees in social platforms, your brand has the potential of getting greater exposure through their friends and friends of friends. Thirdly, this human touch can increase your EdgeRank on Facebook if those posts get shared and commented on more often. Not to mention the morale boost in the office!

3. Reveal New Products and Features
Loyal customers are always interested in what you are working on and Facebook is a great medium to use to keep them informed. The goal is to use innovative ideas to inspire your own "reveals" and increase engagement with your Facebook community.
