Interesting acquisition speculation on Facebook potentially buying Whatsapp. Though it really is pure speculation, the relationship could offer great synergies on both sides. The big question to me is not how much Whatsapp is worth, or how the merger would play out, but rather how they would meld the worlds of a pay to purchase/add-free app with a free app seeking ways to incorporate mobile advertising into its model. How does the value proposition for users change? And how can you evolve it into a sustainable business model?
