The Onion Stops Printing...Continues to Publish

The Onion, a weekly satirical newspaper, will discontinue printing physical versions of its content, moving everything online by the end of this year. As some one who enjoys reading a physical newspaper, I am sad to hear that The Onion will no longer be "in circulation." While I was not an Onion reader, I did pick up a copy once in a while when I was still living in Denver and I was interested in and curious about its hyper-local advertising. Almost every ad in the Denver edition touted some small business. I imaging that the advertisers are sad to see one outlet go and hopefully these businesses have caught on and are marketing online. The Onion's shift to be available only online has a silver lining -- the publication will still exist, one, and two, it has been presented with a variety of content-creation projects. According to Ad Age, The Onion was recently approached to produce a series of men's fashion videos for DSW Inc. and Amazon.com commissioned the company to create a satirical web-series.
