The use of Bitcoin and its validation as a trading currency in our nation is a controversial topic. The case of the Silk Road trial is fascinating as the Judge ruled that Bitcoin was used legitimately as a currency in a money laundering and drug-selling conspiracy. The use of alternative currencies in the U.S. is a slippery slope. The U.S. Dollar is a well-regulated and monitored currency which is used as a benchmark currency all around the world. The fact that electronic currencies might be a legitimate currency in the future is staggering and difficult to imagine.
