Angry Birds Layoffs To Take Place

Remember that game Angry Birds?

At one point, the whole world was obsessed with this mobile game, in which you knock down targets with a variety of flying birds.
In December of 2009, Finnish computer game developer, Rovio Entertainment, launched Angry Birds for the iPhone's iOS. In less than a year, over 12 million copies of the game were purchased from the Apple App Store. The Angry Birds franchise soon became known as the #1 most downloaded freemium games of all time.

Angry Birds still has 200m active players, but its growth has been slower than expected

On October 2, 2014, Rovio announced that 16% of the staff would be laid off, due to the fact that the planned company growth did not meet expectations. Their quick success had thrown off the conservative growth plans as the company continued to plan as if their growth was unstoppable. In terms of active gamers, the company is down to 200 million, as compared to last year's 263 million. Though revenue continues to grow, it is only growing at a slight increase from last year's numbers. Is this the end of the Angry Birds franchise or is there hope at the end of the tunnel?
