Twitter's new "Instant Timeline"

Twitter announced that in an effort to reach beyond regular users, it will introduce new products to attract new users. The platform is going to roll out an "instant timeline" in order to "remove all that friction for new users." Essentially what this new feature does is to allow new users to view posts without having to follow existing users.

Twitter has mentioned that over 500 million people come and view on Twitter each month without logging in. I believe the new feature can make these users' experience more seamless and encourage them to visit Twitter more often.

Financially, Twitter has been doing very well in ad revenue, reaching $320 million in Q3 2014. However, the platform has experience slow growth in user base, especially when compared to Facebook. So the company has prioritized improving product features even if users are logged out of the service and coming into Twitter via a link to a tweet, or to view someone's profile.
