Have You Heard of Twitch?

Twitch on Pace to Surpass 40 Million  US Viewers by 2021 

I have never heard of Twitch before coming across this article. Twitch is an Amazon subsidiary and is the world’s leading live streaming platform for gamers and surpasses YouTube, Mixer and Google as the largest platform. You can watch and chat with millions of fans from across the world. They have built a loyal and engaged audience by allowing viewers to directly interact with their favorite streamers. This article that I came across is forecasting that at least 37.5 million people will watch streaming video content monthly this year on Twitch and that number is expected surpass 40 million by 2021.  This is a significant amount of people.  I have provided a graph below that shows the number of users and the growth potential of this platform.  The author states that Twitch will grow 14.3 % this year but will continue to lose share to competitors like YouTube, Mixer and Facebook Gaming. The problem for Twitch is that they now have to “encourage streamers, viewers and advertisers to stay on its platform by adding non gaming content.”
