Big Brother is reading you
On the 10th of may a uk court emitted a guilty verdict for what is believed to be the first successful criminal prosecution for a tweet. the author of the tweet was charged under the 2003 communications act, which makes it an offense to send “indecent, obscene or menacing” messages over a public electronic communications network. (www.guardian.co.uk) from now on everyone will have to be more careful with their messages not just on twitter but on any social network. it is true that a message on twitter unlike a conversation on facebook can be read by everyone but this sentence has raised many concerns about freedom of speech online and it is definitely controversial. what started as a message where the author was venting his frustration may have become a turning point in online communication and may change the way people express their opinion on any social network.
