Taking social networking to the enterprise

Cisco is introducing a new web-based enterprise collaboration platform called Quad. The company is merging social networking tools with business apps like calendar, IM, VoIP, etc. The product sounds similar to other networking sites (Facebook) with a tabbed interface. Three of the most important according to the reviewer: My View (a homepage with calendar and projects you are following), My Profile (contains blog entries, work expertise, activities you've been working on, etc.), and Communities (connect employees w/ similar interests; some groups restricted some open). Cisco believes creating a more collaborative and communicative environment will improve productivity. One of the most attractive features for employers is the lack of required software - it is completely web-enabled. In addition, it has significant security controls as expected in a corporate setting.

Most of the major players (Google, Microsoft, IBM, etc.) are also looking to introduce similar offerings. I believe Cisco could have a significant first-mover advantage. Particularly, if review in the link below is accurate about the seamless integration into other Cisco offerings. My question is how much does this product cost? And more relevant to our class, can it be supported with an ad-based model? Would employers be willing to have a few work-related ads for free access to this product?
