Can Facebook stay relevant?

Below is a small piece of the information that I wrote for my digital marketing final:

"So what can Facebook do to stay relevant?

First, they need to focus on photo/video sharing. As bandwidth grows, video and photo are being shared more and more often. Websites and mobile applications, like YouTube, Vine, and Instagram, have shown that there is a high demand for video and photos online. To stay relevant in the video/photo space, Facebook should continue to increase the volume of media that can be shared on its site and it needs to stay on the forefront of photo/video technologies, such as 3D video.

The second way that Facebook can stay dominant is by keeping a constant eye on up and coming mobile networks.  That way Facebook will have the ability to either acquire or build an in-house version of new social networks. This is a strategy that Facebook in already following.  In 2012, Facebook acquired Instagram for $1 billion. More recently, Facebook failed in its attempt to buy Snapchat for $3 billion dollars. In 2010, after Foursquare became increasingly popular, Facebook created its own check-in system.  Now that SnapChat rejected Facebook’s acquisition offer, Facebook should attempt to create a similar network to SnapChat.  Will it become as popular?

Probably not.  However, it would have a decent chance of slowing the growth of SnapChat, and help Facebook retain more of its young users."
