Facebook clarifies its ad metrics

Facebook clarifies its ad metrics

Facebook's ad technology has been in the news a lot lately, and not for good reasons. Finally, advertisers may have an opportunity to ask for more transparency from the company in measuring campaign effectiveness.

Recently, Facebook published a blog post highlighting these new changes. For one, the company will now explicitly label whether or not a figure is an estimate. Advertisers are comfortable working with estimates, but they're most comfortable knowing when it's a "guess vs. an absolute truth."

Secondly, Facebook is cleaning up the amount of data it presents, specifically eliminating up to 20 data points that are either irrelevant or redundant. This clean-up will help advertisers hone in on the most important outcomes for their campaigns to inform their next move.

Lastly, Facebook will look to engage more directly with its advertisers through live events, online events and online content.

All of these measure may seem minor, but they could prove to be instrumental in winning (or gaining back) the trust of its advertisers.
