Startup Weekend - A must attend for anybody looking to start a company

Last weekend, I had the chance to attend startup weekend in Seattle. Startup Weekend is a phenomenon that has caught on around the world. Started by the Kauffman foundation, Startup Weekend brings together engineers, designers and business specialists to pitch ideas they might have and form teams and crack out a prototype in 54 hours.

The session I attended in Seattle was attended by 150 odd people, making 55 idea pitches and working on 18 final prototypes. Ideas that were generated included creating a new way of checking weather, crowd funding for small business, buying drinks for your friends as well as a brand new concept to plan for travel. Startup weekend is held in multiple cities around the world if nothing else, one should stop by just to get the sense of enthusiasm in the room to start something from scratch.
