The article briefly points out that Yahoo! is considering
and focusing on rebuilding its own brand by integrating different services. Like
YouTube, Yahoo!’s video service is to include as many as videos to its platform
which might increase the customer engagement and people’s interests in the
future. However, the plan didn't go very smoothly. Yahoo! has not solved the
problems in the contract, such as content ownership. At the same time, YouTube is
waiting for Yahoo!’s reaction and see whether the issue is worth their while.
Even though some troubles exist, Yahoo!’s video service
still has some advantages over YouTube. For example, it has more generous
revenue sharing deals which might accumulate the number of video very soon and
higher fixed advertisement rate than YouTube. And of course, Yahoo!’s video
service allows people to create their own page as YouTube does.
The new video service seems to be interesting and might
bring Yahoo! higher advertisement rate and more revenue. But it might not
happen because its main rival YouTube is in the dark side and can easily copy and
optimize Yahoo!’s plan.
