Jeff Bezos and Skynet

Jeff Bezos announced today that Amazon will be launching Amazon Prime Air for its customers who live within a 10 mile radius of one of their fulfillment centers, so that you can received a package in 30 mins after having placed an order on Amazon, as long as it weighs less than 5 pounds, by drones...  Apparently packages under 5 pounds account for about 86% of Amazon's sales, so this should be pretty exciting not only for people who need their books super quick, but also for anyone who fears the inevitable domination of machines over man, much to the effect of the Terminator movies in which Skynet was the corporation that enabled robots and machines to take over.

Personally I think that is all a little far-fetched (although not impossible), however I do believe that having something delivered to you by drone is pretty damn cool.  I also believe that there will be many others like me, who will pay the extra money to see a drone land on your front step, plop a package onto your welcome mat, and then buzz away back to its hive.  This will become an easy marketing tool for Amazon, which I hope that they will run with and come up with some interesting and unique digital marketing tactics to persuade people like me to not only try it once, but to also become repeat users of Amazon Prime Air.
