Google Maps

Google maps recently launched some updates that feel like a lot to some users but overall they are just highlighting features that have been hiding within the app for quite some time.

A recent article found on wired.com highlights many of the changes. From AR experience that is being shaped by AI to how Google is making it easier for it's users to contribute to the betterment of the platform.

As a Google maps user, my experience continues to get better and better. Google maps plays such a prominent for so many people. From people like me, the lost NYC tourists like me trying to find the right restaurant to first responders trying to get to a suffering patient as fast as possible.

It's easy to see the social good this platform provides but I'm really looking forward to seeing how advertising dollars shapes the future of the platform. Will valid searches be overrun by paid ads? Will the first responders eventually have to look past ad before seeing the fastest way to a patient? Or will Google offer some sort of ad free platform that people can pay for? The future of this platform will be an interesting one to follow.
