Over the weekend, many people visiting YouTube discovered President Trump’s video thanking everyone for supporting him through COVID-19 illness. That is because Trump’s team paid for YouTube’s Masthead spot, a digital billboard placed on YouTube’s homepage for 24 hours, which promises to reach roughly 60 million people. Reportedly Trump’s Campaign paid a 7-figure amount and senior Trump advisor described YouTube’s Masthead as “the most valuable piece of real estate on the Internet”.
Within 2 days from posting the video, which was placed on YouTube’s Masthead for 24 hours, it gathered almost 28 million views.
