Email Best Practices

We all receive hundreds of emails a day. As marketers we are eager to grab the attention of consumer and get them to interact with our brand-- or even better purchase something!

I came across a recent article featuring some best practice that will increase your key metrics. Since we are all looking for ways to improve our marketing I thought it would be helpful to distill the finding!

#1-- Use the subject line to create a sense of urgency
To boost open rate by about 29% use words like “2 Days to Buy” or “Offer Ends Sunday”.

#2-- Create exclusivity in subject lines
Open rates will improve by about 24% when using “Private Event” or “For Subscribers Only” in the subject line

#3- Facebook Rules (as always!)
Using the “Favorites of Facebook Fans” in the subject line will boost rates by over 30%

#4-- Have one main purpose
May sure all links in an email (except opt-out, privacy information, etc) goes to the same landing page. Doing so reduces the risk that a consumer will be distracted and increase conversion rate by 48%

#5-- Keep images consistent
It's important that the email and the landing page uses the same image. The consistency in the image usage will result in a 19% higher response rate than one that doesn't use the same images.

Hopefully you find some of these ideas useful, I know I already have plans to test them out and see if my data shows the same great gains!
