Amazon to Debut "Native" Video Ads for Ecommerce Clients

Amazon announced that it will be releasing a new ad unit where retailers can post product demos, how to videos and other videos to engage with customers.  It's surprising that it took this long for Amazon to give retailers this ability.  Increasingly, consumers are viewing video online and Amazon is the best source to provide relevant advertising on ecommerce.  They said the videos may include digital coupons, customer reviews all embedded in a video ad.  These ads will help consumers learn more about a product and more about how to use a product.  This will allow Amazon to better connect with its customers and provide them with another opportunity to engage and retain customers.  I remember when I was looking for a fan a few months ago that I looked at video reviews on Youtube before purchasing the fan on Amazon.  Now, Amazon will have it's own videos which should make for an easier and helpful customer experience.  In addition, Amazon will allow customers to purchase with one click after viewing the video.  They are starting this ad unit with video games, but it won't be long until they expand to their other products.  It's clear that these native videos will only help make a purchase on Amazon easier and more appealing.  This was a smart move and a long time coming.
