Digital is growing even for grocery shopping

Kroger is adapting its business to the new technology, the new trends and the new times. They are aware that the future of the grocery shopping is not going to the grocery store but shopping through internet and they are trying to stay ahead of the curve.
In the past months they bought two companies to move in the new direction: a “click-and-collect” service that they want to expand and an e-commerce retailer that sells nutrition and healthy living products.
Nowadays  60 percent of all consumers consider going to the grocery store their least favorite chore and 20 percent of shoppers plan and prepare for shopping in internet. Then it is natural that, in the future, customers will avoid going to the store and will have all the items, selected in an online store, delivered to their home.
Additionally internet in the grocery industry has huge advantages. It saves money to the customers through digital coupons and saves time to the customers thanks to favorite items, and default lists that make planning easier.
