…and marketers and advertisers have taken notice. With the general public relatively weary of marketing and targeted advertisements and the over-abundance of information and reviews composed by unknown and unfamiliar people, mom is there to help ease the pain. Moms have built a reputation over the years of being knowledgeable, trustworthy and spending conscious and are now well equipped with Facebook, Twitter and Blogging at their fingertips to spread the word. Lucid Marketing reported on a January 2011 survey of moms that 34% use tell-a-friend request or refer a website, product or brand to others, this jumps up to 66% when an incentive for the mom is attached.
To attract moms, companies need to do things right, otherwise they risk losing their support. Stores like the Container Store and Ann Taylor LOFT are two examples Mom Marketing done well. The survey recommends that companies are straight forward, take the mother’s time in consideration and make sharing the coupons easy.
