Amazon to go Brick and Mortar?

Its official that Amazon.com Inc. plans to open a store in the middle of New York City, according to people familiar with the plans, the first brick-and-mortar outlet in its 20-year history and an experiment to provide the type of face-to-face experience found at traditional retailers.
The site, set to open in time for the holiday-shopping season on the same busy street as Macy’s Inc.’s flagship store, would mark an attempt by Amazon to connect with customers in the physical world. Amazon has built its business on competitive pricing and...
I think this is an extremely interesting move for the e-commerce and digital marketing world as one of the world's most interesting and notorious online retailers considers moving into the more traditional business of brick and mortar selling.

It seems that is this experiment goes well, Amazon could look to open even more physical stores around the nation, and I believe this could change the way many online only retailers think about their business. I believe the real future of digital retailing will require a strong synergistic relationship between both the online and offline brand experience. This coupled with real-time inventory management could lead to the ideal consumer experience of being able to truly purchase where, when, and how they prefer.
