Getting Paid for Your Search Results?

Want to make money as you search? Qmee is "an entrepreneurial business set up with the idea that internet advertising could give something back. Our two founders spotted the opportunity to do something good for internet users, online businesses and charities."  As a user, you just need to sign-up for the free Qmee app on your mac or PC, and search as you normally do.  If applicable, Qmee partner ads will appear on the left-hand side of your screen with a monetary amount assigned to them.  If you click on these results, you can make several cents that go directly to your Qmee account.  You can cash out at any time or donate your results to a charity.

I was intrigued after reading about this concept, so decided to try it out.  After several searches on different websites, I only was able to get paid for clicking on ads that appeared from searching on their one example online "cheap travel insurance". As of now, Qmee has stated that users can expect to see results only 15% of the time. It appears that Qmee is suffering from the chicken or the egg problem - they cannot get more partners to sponsor paid advertisements without users clicking on those ads, and I have no incentive to click on ads if they are not sponsored by Qmee.  For the time being, I am willing to leave the app on my computer, though so far, I have only made 24 cents.  My take is that it's an interesting concept, and one that capitalizes on users understanding that their behavior and data can make money, but one that is not fleshed out just yet.
