Square Order - The Most Painless Way to Get Coffee Yet

The hype from the recent launch of Apple Pay lure me to look at other mobile/online payment platforms in the market and Square's new feature fascinate me quite a bit. It seems that there are countless players in the digital payment industry, each of them focuses on ease of use and convenient, trying to solve what they call the pain point in traditional payment system.

However, I feel that the existing players nor the industry has not really come up with new innovation for a long time. Like I mentioned earlier, Apply Pay was the new thing.....but in the end, Apple was just telling you that it is a pain to carry credit card around, just put it in your phone instead. That is not really something new, moreover, is using credit card really a pain point? For consumer to abandon tradition credit card will not be easy and Apple has to get the vendors to collaborate in order to make its payment system generic.

Square Order is something that I feel....at least is different. The new app rolled out earlier this year enable merchant to prepare order ahead of time and served it ready just when the customer arrived. The location based technology enable the service to predict when the customer will arrived the store after his order has been placed. It seem that this is a simple pain point no one has ever proposed to solve before. Everyone has experience the long waiting line at a coffee shop, especially in a busy city like New York. Square Order enable you to get the coffee right when you arrive, and for the merchant to know ahead when they should start preparing the order, so the food and drink are hot and ready. Of course, they payment part is already been taken care of by Square.
