Yahoo Now Makes More Money from Search ads than Banner Ads
Yahoo reported its first revenue increase in six quarters, driven primarily by search. While traffic is the same, Yahoo has been able to raise prices by 17%. Banner ads face the opposite, with banner adds increasing by 24%, but prices dropping by the same amount. Although banner ads have dropped in price, CEO Melissa Mayer is confident that Yahoo's increase in inventory to sell, especially within proprietary content feeds, will pay off soon. They also expect a revenue payoff from tumblr.
