Neiman Marcus Launches Personalized E-Commerce Tool

Neiman Marcus Launches Personalized E-Commerce Tool

According to an October 27th article in Luxury Daily, Neiman Marcus has launched MyNM, which personalizes customers’ interactions with the Neiman Marcus e-commerce site. The MyNM tool is the latest addition to the wave of personalization tools being launched on e-commerce sites in the wake of the success Amazon has had as the leader in this area.

Shopping with MyNM will help replicate the personalized experience a customer receives in-store. When a customer shops in-store, they benefit from customized recommendations; the more a customer shops with a particular sales associate, the better the associate will get to know the customer’s preferences and the better the associate can assist him or her. According to the article, “a personalized experience is an effective way to attract and retain affluent consumers who seek an individualized shopping experience.”

MyNM includes features such as a favorites button that allows customers to save an item into their personalized dashboard and email it out to friends if they choose. Aside from adding products to their favorites list, customers can also add their favorite designers or brands. This aspect of the favorites feature isn’t very common among e-commerce sites and could enhance the value of the MyNM tool. Additionally, MyNM offers a “top pinned” widget that aggregates top pinned Neiman Marcus items from Pinterest and provides the customer with the ability to easily view those items. Other widgets include “what’s new since your last visit,” “our most requested,” “trending items,” “you may also like,” and “now on sale.”

The brand is especially excited about MyNM as industry research has shown that “optimizing a customer’s online experience tends to lead to repeat visits…Taking the individual into account increases the likelihood of conversion and makes the shopping experience more fulfilling for consumers.”
