Fake it until you make it (again...) with Invisible Boyfriend

Remember that ex who dumped you and started dating someone else immediately after the break-up?  You must have felt betrayed, that your relationship and most importantly that YOU were so easily replaced.  That heartless soul!

This post is not going to give you any advice on how to deal with the pain or tell you how the experience made you a stronger and wiser person.  It's going to give you something better, instant gratification.  That's right, you're about to learn about a technology that will help you fake a rebound relationship.

Officially launched Tuesday, Invisible Boyfriend and Invisible Girlfriend, are web services that allow you to build your "potential partner."  You assign the name, choose the age, and photo and even create the personality.  It doesn't stop there.  The service takes it one step further and even helps you create a story for how you met.  For $24.99 a month you will get 100 text messages (from real people), 10 voicemails and 1 handwritten note.  You can have an invisible boyfriend.

Who comes up with this stuff? Matthew Homann, a divorcee, was tired of being asked if he was dating or seeing someone, up late one night he bought the "drunk domain" InvisibleGirlfriend.com for $7 with no intention of ever using it.  In late 2013, he pitched the idea at a St. Louis hackathon and a long weekend later, he and his team won the contest.

Invisible Boyfriend and Invisible Girlfriend has opened up their services for private beta testing. If you are selected, you will have the opportunity to provide your feedback to tweak the beta so that it'll be even better when it goes live to the rest of the world.  Eventually, they expect to offer gifts sent to you at work and other real-life services.  This is kind of creepy...

And for those of you who don't care about what others think, this service may still provide you some benefits.  A perfect complement to Tinder?   Someone needs to take care of your emotional needs... let that someone be Invisible Boyfriend or Invisible Girlfriend.
