Augmented Reality Stats that matter

Augmented Reality Stats that matter

Augmented reality (AR) blends the real world and the digital, which is a step removed from complete virtual reality. AR is important, and will continue to be so, even an important tool for digital marketers. Here are some stats you want to be aware of as you consider your marketing strategies and tactics.

  • 35% of AR users are between 16 and 34
  • As of August 2019, there were 1,816 augmented reality startups with an average valuation of $5.4 million.
  • By 2020, 100 million consumers will shop using AR both online and in retail stores.
  • The number of AR mobile app installations reached 900 million in 2018 and is expected to exceed 15 billion by 2022.
  • A Forrester report estimates that 14 million American workers will use smart glasses regularly for their jobs by 2025.
  • You will soon be able to experience AR in Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Tesla, Toyota, and Volvo cars.

Beyond these stats, how about this one? 48% of consumers would rather buy from an AR-enabled retailer! Think about it, if you aren't considering this trend, you might not be putting your best foot forward with potential customers. They are eager for an "experience" and this just might be the way to differentiate yourself. Regardless, it is likely to become commonplace for some businesses, so get out front now or invest now because it will soon be table stakes.

Good luck!
