Don't Lift With Your Back(links)

As we learned in class, one of the best ways to build your web presence and SEM is through backlinking. In relation to our business, I had two thoughts: (1) We have a great network of customers, suppliers, and sister companies we can leverage to increase backlinking; and (2) This is going to be a ton of work!

I wanted to share a step-by-step guide I came across regarding successful backlinking.

1) Identify key individuals within your network
2) Determine a digital asset - individual fit
3) Connect with key individuals
4) Create and customize the digital asset
5) Share the digital asset
6) Follow up to ensure the digital asset is received
7) Send a formal thank you

Although the article provides more details to each step, I found the methodology simple and effective. In my experience, exporting marketing to partners embodies the 'telephone' game we played in elementary school. My distributor might use slightly different language or sizes or fonts that dilute our brand messaging, and this step-by-step guide allows for that customization while ensuring the message remains true to our strategy.

After multiple calls with our distributors this week, they are begging for additional marketing materials! This step by step guide will help me to manage the process of supplying materials.
