M-Commerce vendor Branding Brand is responsible for the mobile e-commerce sites and apps for over 200 household name retailers, including Costco, Sephora, Bath and Body Works and Ralph Lauren. Founded in 2008, Branding Brand now sees over $1B in transactions running through its platform, up from $60 M in 2011. It transforms retailers' existing websites into mobile-optimized experiences designed for smartphones, tablets or other in-store formats (e.g. kiosks).
While there has been growth in mobile e-commerce sites, 40% of the largest retailers don't have a mobile website. Still, retailers believe there is an opportunity in mobile shopping. In a recent report by SAP, 68% of retailers are looking at mobile, online and social interactions to drive sales, and 58% are building mobile-ready sites to tap this opportunity.
The new funding round will enable Building Brand to build on its strengths in retail, and expand to cover new clients in travel and hospitality, such as San Francisco Bart and Hilton Hotels.
