Digital marketing should be that much more important during this international pandemic. People will be ordering more products online and getting your product in front of them before they make their choice is crucial to business success right now. Especially for businesses that have been traditionally brick and mortar driven. The question some bigger brands are wrestling with are should we cut spending since sales are down and we're in an economic slump or do we double down on digital spend during this season?
While 87% of US businesses are predicting an uptick in online shopping. 47% of those same US businesses are saying that they are considering cuts to digital infrastructure and technology spending during the shut down.
This might be a time when the folks who take the additional risk and spend the money to create a great digital experience and reach the target audience digitally can claim a larger share of the market as their competition either closes down due to financial stress or loses customers because competitors are realizing what customers want and are delivering an above average digital experience.
We will know who the winners and losers are a few months from now but in the meantime it looks like businesses that can, should shift their spend to digital experience and marketing.
