To continue my theme of writing solely about Amazon, the WSJ published an article on Wednesday about the flurry of counterfeit masks and hand sanitizer that taken over Amazon's pages. According to an Amazon spokesperson, price gouging is “a clear violation of our policies, unethical, and in some areas, illegal.” The question has become whether or not Amazon actually has the capability to stop or slow the activity.
To date, the company's action has consisted of removing 530,000 offers and 2,500 accounts. Yet, in a time of panic, when consumers are worried about their safety, Amazon risks losing its credibility.
