Your smartphone!
I enjoyed this cartoon from Bonkers World poking fun at our relationships with our phones these days. We generally think we are in charge of our phones, but some people feel like their lives are run by their phones, hence the desire for true "offline" vacations.
I particularly enjoyed the bit about checking in to a restaurant, since last week we discussed some emerging social networks, and how they have specific information that can be very valuable to marketers. It sounds great until people start getting too many notifications and then either turn them off or just move on to the next less annoying social network. Basically, "Facebook fatigue" can happen to all social networks, so they should be careful about how often they alert users. I also believe advertisers should be aware of the mobility of users, and make sure they don't invest too much into a single platform.
