The search-based shopping site TheFind introduced the
Glimpse app which is a system that automatically notifies users when items they
Like go on sale. There are over 5.6 million products ‘Liked’ across the Web, and
70% of ecommerce sites offering the Facebook like button at the product level. The
like button is now a universal tool for bookmarking merchandise that people are
interested in or considering, even if they’re not in a position to buy it
today. The startup is similar to the London-based startup Lyst which was introduced
specifically for Pinterest to receive notifications every time a pinned product
goes on sale.
The major difference between these two sites, apart from the
focus on Facebook / Pinterest is that Lyst notifies you when the product goes
on sale at different retailer’s website whereas Glimpse only notifies you for
the specific retailer that you have liked. These types of features create motivation
for users to Like / Pin an item’s product page.
