A New Mode to Story-telling

It seems to be that a visual storytelling revival has been occurring for the last couple of months. It has been an organically transition and so we haven’t even noticed it. However, images and photography are “fast becoming the lingua franca of a more global, mobile and social society”. Images are universal. They cross over any language or cultural boundary and allows clear communication among diverse people. Also, images are easily distributable. The bandwith required to broadcast images is insignificant. What is more, today we have plenty of options as to easy editing, crafting, and Photoshopping. (AppStore has more than 10,000 apps in the photo section)

If we asses the rising star-ups within the social media environment, we find many image-related. Examples include Tumblr, Pinterest, Instangram, among others.

It is crucial for marketers to consider this while planning their annual digital strategy. To take into account: Images today ignore traditional photography rules. Similarly to what has happened with an informal written word for text messages or videos in YouTube, Smartphones have changed imagery cannons.

It seems that imagery will be eating video for a while. Let's wait and see how long it will last.
