Conversion Rates on Pinterest

Pinterest is the newest and greatest for Social media.  I think in many instances when new social media opportunities present themselves for brands, it can be difficult to figure out how to tie all of them together while at the same time ensuring that you have enough uniqueness on the platforms to make them relevant.  This article is really interesting as it shows how pinterest is become more relevant for posting product and getting re-pins and leading to increased conversion rates.  People are using pinterest much differently than facebook and can be critical for visuals if your brand or client has E-commerce.

People always talk about the future as being an era where you can click on anything on your computer or screen and purchase it. And... Pinterest has gotten us there. Of course, when someone sees a picture of something they are interested in, and clicks it, the conversion rate is going to be great. As we have learned about in class, there is a ton of money in increasing the conversion rate of your site. One thing I think will be interesting is seeing how Pinterest evolves when more companies start to heavily market on their website. It is already occurring, but as the trend continues, I wonder if it will devalue the brand. There are a lot of things that Facebook and Twitter could have done to make money sooner but they didn't because they understood that you focus on the customer first and the money will come later. It will be interesting to see whether marketers and consumers can interact in a mutually beneficial way on Pinterest's site without degrading the experience.
