Why Businesses Need To Pay Attention to Google+ Local

As many of you, I feel google+ is like a ghost town. Although having account, I barely spend time on it, and there is very limited connection as well. However, Google seems very serious about its social platform. Recently, Google announced over 250 million registered users, a considerable increase over one year. Despite the impressive user growth, Google+ still seems to be lagging in engagement when compared with Facebook.

As we know, Google is leading position in search and local search. It is estimated that one in four searches on the internet are “local searches”. To leverage its leading position in searching, Google announced that Google places pages are replaced with new Google+ Local Pages, a step further to integrate the local searching and social platform. At this time, Google+ Local pages are separate from previously released Google+ Business pages. Small business owners can leverage them to target and publish information to select circles of people that have “Plussed” them. For local business owners, it is more critical than ever for them to claim their listing on Maps.(Google+ Local)
