The Power of Mobile Shopping (especially in this holiday season)

An update from Adobe Digital Index Holiday Predictions Report 2014, which aggregates data from over 5,000 major companies worldwide that uses Adobe Marketing Cloud.

It is not surprising to see that US still have the most online spending during the holiday and big portion of that came form mobile. However, it is a little surprising for me to see that China is not that far behind when considering that this time of the year is actually not a holiday season in China, Chinese new year is actually around February. Even more surprisingly, Thailand matches the online spending growth rate with China, despite the fact that there is still weak facility in terms of online transaction.

We can look more in detail that Thailand's online sales has been increasing with huge contribution from mobile sale. The key factor contributed to this increase would be higher access to smartphones and tablets as well as increase in quality and size of the phones.

On the other hand, Brazil retailers seem to weight alot of importance on online sale, even more to the US. This data raise questions to retailers in many other countries that are seeing huge increase in online sales but have retailers placing lesser important on the platform.
