Winter [Maybe] Coming: The Evolution of Twitter

Twitter has dropped vague clues suggesting that changes are coming to the platform.   Many Twitter users are fearful that their carefully and personally curate feeds will fall victim to a Facebook-like algorithm.  The dreaded effect--replacing realtime news with "a wasteland of Ice Bucket Challenge videos--is one most users can be cautiously optimistic about avoiding.  According to recent reports for Twitter, a new Facebook-like algorithm will only affect new users.  The experience of longtime users will not go completely unchanged, but the degree to which the algorithm influences this level of user experience seems slightly more palatable.  So while the full details remain fuzzy, it seems safe to assume the greatest changes will bypass the loyal user base and focus on the new user experience.
