Reddit is a site where 15 and 55 year olds (but mostly 15) get to scream loudly into the internet and somehow get heard. Some of it is due to witty content but mostly it's real people talking about real things. You know - just like the real world.
This scares marketers and they roll out articles like this one:

Marketers want reach but customers want place where there is just real life and no marketers. Something has to give and in this case I am happy that Reddit has abated to maintain its pure mission and stay relatively marketer-free.
Will Marketers win the war? Likely as resdit continues to be one of the worlds most trafficked site but continues to lose money for its large corporate owner Conde Nast.
When that happens you can expect the smartest users to find a new place on the Internet to hide.
