Yesterday, 13. November 2014, The IAB board in Switzerland granted for the 5th time the "Digital Marketer of the Year" Award".
This award is granted to a person or institution who contributed significantly to the development of digital marketing in Switzerland. For the 2014 award, 5 companies were nominated including the US firm Spotify, who many experts see as the favorite for the award.
Spotify entered Switzerland early 2014 and had immediate success. Their platform created a large new environment for Swiss digital marketers and millions of dollars additional advertising revenue was created.
This award and its nominations show the importance of digital marketing in the whole western world and even beyond. When asking the head IAB Switzerland, Roger Baur, about the future of digital marketing, he said that he believes that almost every type of media will be digitalized and that we're only at the beginning of a very large wave of digital marketing. Growth will exceed most expectations in his perspective, not only in Switzerland but in the whole world. Well then, let's hope that not only IAB and the media is ready for this but the digital marketers themselves as well.
